End of life is tied to so much beureaucracy and a literal person is dying. They are going to lose capacity entirely as a being soon and thats going to involve a lot of systems. My job as a social worker is to advocate for your care. Death and dying is not just scary it is heavily tied to medical, financial, and legal systems. My work intersects with all of these at every level. Whether a person needs medical care, transportation, pain management, Caregiving and Guardianship, anything. I can be there in the room operating at whatever level a person needs.
I work with families. I work with the individual. I work with medical teams. I can work in the home. I can go to medical appointments. I am an advocate first and foremost.
This space naturally intersects with grief and System Navigation. Whether you are coming to terms with your own mortality, supporting a loved one through non-traditional care options, or advocating for rights and agency within medical systems. I do not turn away from the weight of what is happening.
