Young adulthood is often framed as a period of total freedom, yet it is experienced by most as a disorienting collision with economic precarity, career instability, and structural burnout. As young people step out of secondary education and move through Life Transitions & Stages of Life, the pressure to establish independence while navigating competitive labor markets and rising living costs creates immense stress. When this transition stalls, young adults frequently experience acute Concerns & Experiences around Launching, feeling stuck between the desire for autonomy and the material reality of financial dependence. In my practice, I reject the idea feeling overwhelmed during this stage is a personal failure or character flaw, drawing on Critical & Theoretical Frameworks to contextualize individual distress within broader societal and economic pressures. I offer a grounded, collaborative space to process existential uncertainty, unlearn internalized perfectionism, and build a self-authored life.
This threshold is also a major period for Identity, Culture & Community, where young adults re-examine inherited beliefs, explore relationships, and navigate gender and sexuality outside institutional supervision. Many individuals in this stage undergo deep shifts within Religion & Spirituality, deconstructing high-control religious upbringings or seeking authentic spiritual alignment. Young adults in this age group are also entering high-stress environments, including service in Military, First Responders or managing newly recognized physical and mental health needs. When the cumulative pressure of independence, historical trauma, or workplace stress becomes overwhelming, young adults may experience struggles with Trauma, Crisis & Adversity, or turn to coping patterns surrounding Substance Use & Addiction. For others, distress manifests around body image and control, where the stress of independence exacerbates long-standing struggles with emotional regulation. Recognizing how burnout, trauma, and isolation impact mental health, I help young adults develop authentic self-trust, reconnect with somatic intelligence, and cultivate resilient community networks.
Navigating young adulthood also requires renegotiating relationships with family of origin. As young adults establish their own values, households often experience friction around shifting roles, financial boundaries, and independence. Through Relationship & Family Services, I work with young adults and their families to resolve relational conflict, establish healthy boundaries, and transform old childhood patterns into respectful, adult-to-adult connections. I also support young adults as they enter new intimate partnerships, process relationship breakups, or navigate early parenting choices. When institutional systems like higher education, employment, or healthcare create administrative barriers, I provide direct support with Legal & Institutional Systems through system navigation and advocacy.
To support practical, self-directed change, I integrate goal-oriented modalities from Cognitive & Behavioral therapies, including SFBT Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to identify existing strengths and construct tangible future solutions, alongside MI Motivational Interviewing to help resolve internal ambivalence around career, relationships, or habit changes without pressure or shame. I weave these collaborative, client-led approaches together with Person-Centered & Existential therapy for deeper self-exploration, and Relational & Systems frameworks to heal relational wounds and foster lasting autonomy.
To support deeper relational healing and help resolve long-standing internal patterns, I integrate transformative modalities from Psychodynamic & Experiential traditions. Through Psychoanalysis, we examine how foundational relational maps and unconscious dynamics influence your current choices, career anxieties, and relationship patterns. I incorporate Schema Therapy to identify and re-parent core maladaptive modes originating in childhood, helping you unlearn persistent feelings of defectiveness, failure, or abandonment. Using Coherence Therapy, we work gently to uncover the compelling, underlying emotional logic driving unwanted behaviors or emotional blocks, allowing those implicit beliefs to transform naturally when brought into direct awareness. Additionally, I utilize AEDP Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy to process painful emotional states in real time within a warm, explicitly supportive therapeutic bond, helping you move through anxiety and isolation toward genuine somatic relief, emotional resilience, and authentic self-trust.
