Adolescence is a pivotal threshold where young people begin to form their own perspectives, navigate major life transitions, and negotiate shifting boundaries with the adult world, making it a critical time for Identity, Culture & Community. Between academic demands in [Legal & Institutional Systems, changing peer networks, and social expectations, teenagers frequently face intense pressure that shows up through everyday struggles with Concerns & Experiences.
When emotional stress becomes difficult to process, young people often internalize their distress, which can manifest as sadness, persistent irritability, or intense difficulty with emotional grounding. To give teenagers and families practical, usable tools, I draw upon evidence-based skill building through Cognitive & Behavioral, including REBT Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, CBT, and ACT for challenging irrational beliefs, cognitive reframing, values clarification, and distress tolerance. Think panic attacks or Anxiety.
I combine these structured approaches with Relational & Systems frameworks to repair relational ruptures, alongside Person-Centered & Existential models for authentic self-exploration. When families are overwhelmed by institutional barriers, I also offer direct support with system navigation and advocacy to help coordinate with schools and community providers so young people receive comprehensive, integrated care. In my practice, I meet teenagers with deep respect for their lived reality, aligning with the philosophical critiques housed under Critical & Theoretical Frameworks that reject rigid, moralistic timelines. I provide a grounded space where young people can make sense of their feelings, build self-trust, and explore selfhood on their own terms.
For many teenagers, emotional distress turns inward toward body image, control, and physical health, leading to complex struggles with Eating Disorders. When coping mechanisms or neurodivergent friction like demand avoidance make daily routines overwhelming, forcing rigid compliance often deepens anxiety and isolates the teenager. I work collaboratively with young people to understand the protective function of these behaviors, restore nervous system balance, and build sustainable coping strategies. Teenagers also carry profound, often unacknowledged experiences with grief and loss, whether processing family changes, the death of a loved one, or the loss of important friendships, all of which can severely impact peer relationships and social connection.
Supporting a teenager through these challenges requires supporting the entire household through shifting dynamics and relational stress. As teenagers prepare for future independence and the eventual process of launching, families often experience increased tension as roles shift and old rules no longer fit. Whether a household is adjusting to blended family life, managing intergenerational stress, or navigating life transitions, I partner with caregivers through Relationship & Family Services. I help parents establish clear, compassionate boundaries that foster co-regulation and mutual trust rather than reactive control.
This line is for kids conduct issues or behavioural issues. Yes. I want them on my schedule. Those are the kiddos I reach best.
