Labels like "bipolar disorder" or "cyclothymia" are standard psychiatric shorthand used to categorize severe shifts in mood and energy. Traditional clinical systems treat these rapid changes as internal glitches to be leveled out; forcing people to perform emotional stability at all costs. PMDD is another example.
I do not view extreme emotional shifts as personal defects or broken wiring. Your nervous system cycles through states of high arousal and heavy withdrawal for real reasons; whether in response to unaddressed trauma, biological rhythms, chronic overload, physical illness, or intense environmental stress. Rapid shifts between high energy and profound fatigue are often the body's blunt, protective way of attempting to regulate inside overwhelming circumstances. Whether the body wants it or not, the body is experiencing it. It is an experience first and foremost.
This work naturally connects to navigating disability, depression, anxiety, and underlying trauma.
I do not focus on forcing you into a flatline of artificial calm, especially through compliance. This can be a space to audit the physical, relational, and systemic triggers driving these shifts. We honor what your body is experiencing, and build practical ways to engage despite.
